WEB DESK: US President Donald Trump has said Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to visit the United States on September 24, as Washington and Beijing continue efforts to stabilise bilateral relations and expand dialogue on key strategic issues.

Speaking about the construction of a new White House ballroom, Trump said the facility could host high-level meetings, including discussions with the Chinese president. He added that the expected meeting with Xi could coincide with the United Nations General Assembly session in New York.

The US president said he intends to discuss artificial intelligence and other major issues with the Chinese leader during the anticipated visit.

Trump also revealed that he expects to travel to China in the future as both countries seek to maintain communication and manage differences over trade, technology and broader strategic matters.

The expected high-level engagements come as the United States and China continue diplomatic efforts to improve relations and explore cooperation in areas including artificial intelligence, economic ties and other issues of mutual interest.
