WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan after a one-day visit to Doha, where they offered condolences to the leadership of Qatar on the passing of former Qatari Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
During the visit, the prime minister, Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistani delegation met Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and conveyed heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan. They also offered Fateha for the departed soul of the late former Amir.
Prime Minister Shehbaz expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Qatari leadership and people during their time of grief, describing Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as a visionary statesman whose leadership transformed Qatar into a modern and prosperous nation.
He said the late former Amir would always be remembered for his significant contributions to Qatar’s development as well as his role in promoting regional peace and stability.
Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistani delegation for travelling to Doha to personally offer condolences, describing the gesture as a reflection of the strong fraternal ties between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar also accompanied the delegation during the visit.
Prime Minister Shehbaz had arrived in Doha earlier on Monday on a one-day official visit and was received at the airport by Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani.
