Rawalpindi: Security forces killed 13 militants in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan district, the military said on Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops engaged the hideout of the militants after receiving reports of their presence. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from those killed, who were said to have been involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.

The ISPR statement noted that the group had facilitated a suicide bombing in Daraban in December 2023, and was also involved in the abduction and target killings of government officials and civilians.

Following the operation, a sanitisation exercise was launched to ensure clearance of the area and eliminate any remaining threats.

The military reiterated its resolve to eradicate terrorism from Pakistan, stressing that security forces remain committed to eliminating all networks involved in destabilising the country.
